New Equipment Reliability Analysis and Improvement
PII has developed a comprehensive method of analyzing designs which is capable of determining the real world reliability of the component or integrated production line. This method is called a "Critical Components and Reliability analysis".
The analysis identifies the pieces of equipment and associated components that are critical to availability, then determines the real-world reliability to establish an objective expectation of future productivity. Based on the business needs, contingency plans are developed (design improvements, on-line monitoring/repair, recovery procedures, etc.), if possible, before the equipment is turned on.
This approach has helped many operations focus on the real world issues of productivity rather than subjective expectations management may have formed based on vendor statements.
